EMC sponsor Lutterworth at football festival

This May Day Bank Holiday weekend, EMC were sponsors for Lutterworth Athletics U14 boys team as they took part in the ESF football festival weekend in Skegness.

The lads were competing against 10 other teams which were split into 2 groups. The 4 group stage games were spread out over the Saturday and Sunday with the hope to progress into the knockout stages on the Sunday afternoon.

After the first 3 games the lads had won 2 and lost 1 sitting nicely in 2nd place of their group. Going into the 4th game the lads only needed a draw to secure their place in the knockout stages, however they battled well to get the victory and safely going through in second place.

The Lutterworth Hurricanes drew Wendover Juniors in the semi-finals who looked to be the tournament favourites after scoring 25 goals and conceding none in their group, however our boys brushed them aside with a 2-0 victory!

Onto the Final, where they met our group toppers Castle Park. The Hurricanes dominated the game creating chance after chance, but with a great performance from the opposition keeper Lutterworth just couldn’t find the net.

After all the lad’s efforts, a minor defensive error in the penalty box moments from the end saw the Castle Park forward steel the ball and score the winner causing us to lose 1-0.

On a positive note, the lads only lost to one team in the whole tournament. The lads did the club and everyone associated with them that weekend extremely proud.

The presentation night was great and the lads were awarded the runners up trophies by Kevin Keegan which was a nice moment for them.
